Dolphin E10 Automatic Robotic Pool Cleaner
The Dolphin E10 from Maytronics joins a large line-up of the company’s robot pool cleaners. All of them are intended to make it as easy as can be to keep your pool clean. But every company claims that their robot pool cleaners are can do the job easily, so does this one deserve your attention?
If you own an above ground pool up to 30 feet (9m) wide or long, it’s worth your attention. It’s also going to cost you under half the amount of a standard in-ground cleaner from the Dolphin range.
Even though the it’s so much cheaper, you still get 70% of the same features of the pricier model, including smart navigation and active brushing. You can find out more about those further down.
When we were reviewing this, we discovered that although you can use it in a smaller in-ground swimming pool, it won’t clean the walls. If you have an in-ground pool, you should probably consider something larger and more powerful such as the Dolphin Premier.
But if you have an above-ground pool, it’s worth reading on to find out the pros and cons of this cleaner.

How well does it clean?

Dolphin E10 Automatic Robotic Pool Cleaner
The main drawback we found for the Dolphin E10 is that it won’t climb your pool walls. This is pretty standard for cleaners for above-ground pools, though.
When it comes to the pool floor though, the E10 cleans it really well.
The main cleaning tool is the active brush, which you’ll find mounted on the front section of the E10. This brush spins twice as fast as the standard brush, meaning it does a great job of scrubbing away algae and calcium build-up.
If you buy the E10, you won’t have to worry about scrubbing your pool floor, although you’ll still have to clean the walls yourself.
The E10 is sold with a fine filter, which is designed to filter out any debris that isn’t caught by the filter basket.
The fine filter works well for larger debris like bugs and leaves, but it’s not fine enough to filter out fine sand and dust. If you want to get a deeper clean, especially if you have problems with sand and dust being blown into your pool, you will need to buy an ultra-fine filter, which is sold separately. This does mean an extra expense.
Another pro is that the filter basket is top-loading, so it’s easier to remove than other cleaners that you have to turn over to access the filter. The filter basket is also really easy to clean compared to a filter bag. Simply rinse it with a hose and you’re good to go.
How does it work?
The E10 uses CleverClean navigation, a feature that makes it stand out among cleaners for above-ground pools.
This feature makes the cleaner fast and efficient. Rather than randomly moving around the pool, it uses sensors to scan the layout and size of the pool and work out the best cleaning path.
This means it can clean your entire pool in only 90 minutes. It also means the E10 won’t miss a single spot on your pool floor.
Another feature we really like about the E10 that’s unusual in above-ground pool cleaners is that it uses treads rather than wheels. These give the cleaner better mobility and traction – it’s just shame they can’t drive the cleaner up the pool walls!
What makes the E10 special?
1. It’s really lightweight
Weighing in at less that 14lb, the Dolphin E10 is a lightweight model, making it easy for you to lift it out of the pool and carry around. This means you don’t need to worry about getting a caddy for it.
2. It releases water easily
The quick water release design makes the E10 even more lightweight. You don’t have to worry about lifting up a cleaner full of water – simply active the quick water release and all of the water drains away.
3. You can get started with the press of a button
Because the E10 doesn’t have all of the bells and whistles, it’s really easy to get started. You don’t have to worry about things like a cycle timer, different cleaning programs, or a regular weekly timer. All you have is one button to turn the cleaner off and on. This is great if it’s your first robotic cleaner, as it means you don’t have to worry about learning all of the different features.
Is it cost effective to run?
There’s no information available about the energy consumption of the E10, but it makes sense that the CleverClean navigation would mean that it would cost less to run compared to other above-ground pool cleaners. The cleaner scans the pool to design the quickest and most efficient route, which means it can do a full clean in just 90 minutes, which is sure to save energy compared to other slower, less efficient cleaners.

What’s the warranty like
The E10 has been built, inspected and tested according to specific engineering requirements. You will receive a 2-year warranty with your purchase, however this is only valid in the country where you buy the cleaner. So if you buy the robot cleaner in a different country, the warranty will be null and void.
Cons
There’s no system to assist with lifting it out of the pool
It doesn’t do a good job of cleaning stairs
It doesn’t come with a caddy for transportation, or a remote control
There’s no indicator to tell you when the filter is full
What’s the verdict on the E10?
Although the E10 is smaller than other models in the Dolphin range, it’s a popular model. A lot of customers like the fact that the E10 can get above-ground pools clean without have to use suctions or booster pumps. Customers comment on its ability to filter out all sorts of dirt, small and large bits of debris in just one go.
The E10 is a bit slower than the other models in the range, but that’s just because it’s doing a thorough job of cleaning the pool. A lot of people commented positively on the top-loading basket for the filter, as they liked that they don’t have to turn the cleaner over to get rid of trapped debris and dirt.
Another feature customers like is the brush action, which can easily sweep up dirt, and also makes the cleaner move around the pool floor easily.
One drawback that some people have noticed is that the traction belt can easily be removed. Others missed the weekly scheduling function that comes with the in-ground pool models from Dolphin.
How does the E10 compare to the Triton PS Plus
Comparing the E10 to the Triton PS Plus is difficult, because they are used for very different purposes. The E10 is used for cleaning above-ground pools, whereas the Triton PS Plus is used for in-ground pools. That said, they do have a lot of features in common: they’re powerful cleaners that are excellent at scrubbing, and do a great job if filtering with their big top-loading filters.
The Triton PS Plus has additional features that are important in an in-ground pool cleaner, such as a weekly scheduler. It can also clean up walls, along the waterline, and can handle underwater obstructions.
If you have an in-ground pool, the Triton PS Plus is an excellent cleaner. However, if you have an above-ground pool, the E10 is a feature-packed option.
Conclusion The E10 is a challenging machine to review. It comes at a great price, it’s easy to use even for beginners, it’s lightweight and it’s energy efficient. The big downside is that it can’t clean your pool walls and steps, so you still have to scrub them yourself.

Dolphin E10 Automatic Robotic Pool Cleaner
If you have a big in-ground pool, the E10 is not going to be a good choice. You’ll want to look at other Dolphin robotic pool cleaners such as the Escape or our favourite, the Nautilus CC Plus.
That said, if you have a smaller above-ground pool, the E10 is an affordable, user-friendly, sturdy reliable option. However we wonder how many people actually have above-ground pools to start with – we can’t imagine it’s a huge market.
However, if you are the owner of a small above the ground pool and are looking for a robot that’s easy to use, durable and reliable at a great price, then the E10 is worth considering.
If you’re after a robot cleaner, you probably want one that will clean your entire pool – isn’t that the entire point of having a robot cleaner?
If that’s you, then we can’t openly recommend the E10. Perhaps you could buy it as a cheap Christmas present for someone who needs a hint about the cleanliness of their pool!
Our recommendation: If you want the best robotic pool cleaner on the market, you can’t go past the top cleaner on Amazon, the Dolphin Nautilus CC Plus.
