Lighter than regular vacuums, stick vacuums are ideal for smaller homes as they need less storage space. The lightness also means you can lift it easily to access higher and more difficult to reach places. They are safer and faster, due to the lack of a cord to trip over or move around as you clean. The higher-end models have a battery life of up to 60 minutes and are much quieter than the traditional vacuum. No more hunting for a power socket, and excellent suction helps make your life just a little easier.

Hero

Indeed, if you have mostly hardwood, tile, vinyl or ceramic floors, and you don’t need the higher suction power that comes from standard vacuum cleaners, then a stick vacuum is perfect for you.

Tineco is better known from its parent company Ecovacs which manufacturers robot vacuums. It has set itself up as direct competition for Dyson with, in general, lower prices for similar abilities.

Design

The Tineco A10 and A11 range are slim-line and weigh just over 5lbs which make them ideal for lifting to clean curtains or even ceilings. They are made of high quality anodized aluminum, and the parts fit together very well making them easy to assemble.

They lack a stand for storage in, but they can be propped against the wall in a corner to keep them out of the way when not in use.

Hero and Master

The difference between the Hero and Master range is the additional accessories which can also be purchased separately but, basically the A10 Hero and A10 Master are the same, and the A11 Hero and A11 Master are the same.

Battery

The A10 battery takes approximately 3.5 hours to charge and will run for 25 minutes on normal power but for only 7 minutes of high power. This is 5 minutes less than the Dyson V7 which can run for 30 minutes on normal power. However, you can buy a second battery which will charge simultaneously with the one in the machine, and the batteries are easily changed.

The A11 battery is more powerful and can last for up to 1 hour at normal power or 15 at high power. This is identical to the Dyson V10.

Hero

Cleaning Power

The A10 produces 105 air watts, and the A11 produces 120 with Dyson showing slightly higher at 110 for the V7 and much higher at 150 air watts for the V10. A regular vacuum averages between 180 and 220 air watts.

Parts

The HEPA filters on the A10 range can be washed (and then dried thoroughly) and remove 99% of particulates. However, frequent washing can damage the filter. The four system filter of the A11 range has a clever way of inserting the nozzle of the vacuum into the filter and sucking out the debris therein. This saves any damage washing might do and allows the machine to be used again immediately without waiting for a filter to dry.

One of the complaints about the A10’s dust bin was that it is too small. At 0.3 liter capacity, it has to be emptied frequently. The A11’ bin is double that size at 0.6 liter which is far more convenient. The Dyson V7’s bin is 0.54 liters, but this also adds ½ pound to the weight, but the V10 can hold 0.75 liters of waste without being any heavier than the V7.

Accessories

The basic accessories for the Tineco A10 and A11 Hero are motorized carpet brush, mini power brush, 2-in1 dusting brush, crevice tool, charger, and storage caddy. The A10 Master range adds a motorized hard floor brush, and the Tineco A11 Master includes the hard floor brush as well as an extra battery.

Hero

Extra Features

Both models have features that cannot be found on Dyson. The LED lights on the edge of the brushes make it easier to see in dark places or under furniture. Also, the control trigger can be set in the lock position thereby causing less stress on the hands when cleaning.

Conclusion

The Tineco A10 and A11 stick vacuum offer a lower priced alternative to Dyson stick vacuums. Whilst their suction power is not quite on the same level, the other features are very similar and offer excellent value for money. The Master versions of the range offer the extra accessories at a lower price than buying them separately.

Stick Vacuums Stick vacuums' compact size makes them convenient, but that's not their only selling point. In the past few years, stick vacuum suction has gotten a lot stronger, especially in battery-powered stick vacuums.
