Today, we’re looking at three Shark ION robot vacuums. The Shark ION R75, the R85, and the S87.

All three of these robot vacuums are fantastic. They each have a variety of unique features and attributes that make vacuuming a simple, easy, and quick experience.

Robot vacuums are the future, and the Shark models we’re looking at today are truly reminiscent of that fact.

The Shark ION ROBOT R75

Right off the bat, we’re going to start with the Shark ION ROBOT R75. This is the most inexpensive robot vacuum on this list, but that doesn’t mean it’s bad or of lesser quality, in comparison to the others.

Far from it. The R75 offers a wide variety of excellent features that make vacuuming an enjoyable and effortless process.

If you own an Amazon Echo device, or if you just have a smartphone, you have access to a couple of really nice features.

The first is the ability to create custom scheduled for the R75. For example, you can tell the R75 to clean, every Saturday and Sunday, at six o’clock in the morning, and then to clean again, on those same days, at five o’clock at night. That way, you don’t even have to be home to turn on the vacuum.

The second feature is the ability to turn on the vacuum and to have it begin cleaning, wherever you are. Whether you’re at work, the grocery store, or in the waiting room at the doctor, you can turn it on at any time. The same way as you can adjust the schedule, at any time. Finally, you can also tell the robot to recharge, at any time.

The third notable feature is the ability to tell the vacuum to “Spot Clean”. This means that if the vacuum is on a spot that is especially dirty, you can just tap a button, and it will give that particular spot extra attention, when cleaning.

Other than that, you have a few other great features.

Using powerful sensors, the R75 easily creates pathways that enable the vacuum to clean the entirety of your home efficiently. It detects obstacles, and goes around them, and creates pathways to accommodate the size of your home, as well as the layout.

Using a detangling system, the brush roll can untangle things like pet hair and other small pieces of debris from itself. That way, you don’t have to do it yourself.

Along with that, the bristles have been designed to be as efficient as possible. Whether they’re cleaning carpeting or hard flooring, they can easily brush up dirt, dust, and debris, with no problems at all.

When the vacuuming is all said and done, you can take out the dust bin by simply grabbing the handle, which is on the side of the vacuum, and pulling it out.

Finally, the battery gives you one-hour of cleaning. This may not be a lot, but for smaller jobs, and even some bigger ones, it should be more than enough.

Shark ION ROBOT Comparison: R75 vs. R85 vs. S87

The Shark ION Robot R85

The Shark ION Robot R85 has many similarities to the R75, but it improves on just about every single feature.

Using a new-and-improved sensor navigation system, the R85 can more efficiently clean your home, and avoid obstacles.

According to Shark, the suction, in comparison to the R75, is three times as good. This means that whether you’re cleaning hard flooring or soft flooring, it can clean whatever is in its path.

Same goes for the brushes. The brush roll is still self-cleaning, and it has been optimized for pets. So, if you have a dog – or cat, for that matter – that sheds a lot, this is the perfect robot vacuum for you. Whenever pet hair becomes stuck to the brush roll, it can remove those hairs and continue to vacuum, without having to deal with things becoming clogged or stuck.

Along with that, there are two brushes to the side of the vacuum, that spin. This means that you can vacuum up debris and dirt that is located in corners and various crevices, as well as the edges of walls.

You can clean for a longer period of time since the dustbin is now “XL”, rather than the standard size that the R75 came with.

Once again, you can also pair this vacuum with Amazon Echo and your smartphone. But, Shark has also added the Google Home functionality.

The Shark ION Robot S87

Finally, we come to the Shark ION Robot S87. Now, the S87 has all of the features of the previous two vacuums, but it also includes a hand vacuum, that you can pick up and move around.

SHARK ION Robot Vacuum S87

This hand vacuum is absolutely fantastic because it gives you extra cleaning efficiency. It lets you clean your walls and your upholstery, and all of the spaces and places that the robot vacuum part of the S87 can’t actually go to.

There is also the inclusion of a multi-surface pet tool for the handle vacuum. This makes it easier to clean pet hair, as well as the aforementioned upholstery, which includes couches and chairs, and even the interior of your car.

Other than that, the features present in the R85 are all here, and they remain the same. You have the same smart device functionality, the same sensor navigation system, and the same level of cleaning power and efficiency as with the R85 model.

However, the hand vacuum gives you some extra versatility.

SharkNinja S87

Conclusion

Ultimately, at the end of the day, these are all fantastic robot vacuums. If you want a simple robot vacuum that works well, the R75 is great. If you want a robot vacuum that delivers high-end performance, you can’t go wrong with the R85. And if you want an excellent robot vacuum, as well as a fantastic hand vacuum, the S87 is an amazing choice.
