When it comes to floor cleaning robots, the iAdapt technology by Roomba is vastly superior. The Roomba 801 is built with optical and sound sensors for detecting all types of debris, down to the tiniest speck of dust, which the robot will clean efficiently.
You don’t even have to keep an eye on it. With features like Wall Detect and Cliff Detect, the robot can navigate its way around the house. It automatically adjusts the height and speed of the brush bars by detecting the distance from the floor.

AeroForce Cleaning System
The iRobot Roomba 801 uses this technology to deliver much more cleaning power than that of other cleaning bots of its class. The AeroForce System uses two breakthrough technologies: a high-powered vacuum channel to increase suction at the floor level and dual-counter rotating, tangle-free debris extractors to grab all of the dirt and hair from the floor, where it is all transferred into the high-capacity bin.
The robot cleans one room entirely before moving on to the next part of the home for easy, room-to-room cleaning.
Tangle-Free Cleaning
The problem with many traditional cleaning robots is that their brushes tend to become tangled with debris – particularly hair – rather quickly.
This isn’t the case with the iRobot Roomba models. The extractors are made with technology which allows them to suck up all debris without getting stuck on hair, tassels, cords, or carpet fringes. When it does detect debris with which it could potentially be entangled, the robot will automatically shut off either side brush or main brush and escape.
Docking and Self-Charging
Another benefit of the 801 model is that it can dock and recharge itself. It goes from room to room, and when it is finished, it returns to dock at its “Home Base” to recharge itself. You never have to manually charge the device yourself, thus saving both time and hassle.
To ensure that it does the best job possible, you do not want to move the Home Base before the iRobot has completed building an internal map of the floor plan. Its docking position is where it begins building its pathways.
The Home Base should ideally be placed in an open area with at least 1.5 feet of uncluttered floor space on each side. If there are stairs, leave at least 4 feet of distance between the bottom step and Home Base.
Scheduled Cleaning
There is no app required. Simply use the buttons on the vac to schedule cleaning. The process is easy and quick, and you can schedule up to 7 days a week to keep the floors clean every single day. Scheduled cleaning sessions can also be canceled.
You don’t have to schedule ahead of time if you don’t want to. There is a “CLEAN” option you can choose, and the Roomba will get to work right away.
Good for Pet Owners
Anybody who has ever owned a pet knows how quickly pet hair can accumulate on any type of flooring. Not only does it pile up fast, but it can also be difficult to clean manually as it tends to cling to the floor. Simple Maintenance
To keep the vac running at optimum performance, there is some maintenance and care required. It’s recommended that you empty the bin regularly – especially if you notice the Roomba picking up less dirt than usual.
The filter should be cleaned at least once per week, or two times per week if you have pets. The filter must be replaced every two months. The extractors should be cleaned once every 3 – 4 months (depending on pets) and replaced approximately 1 to 2 times a year.
