You’ve probably heard or read about Roombas before. They’re robot vacs created by iRobot, a company that produces robot slaves that follow their human master’s every bidding. Roombas are among the most popular robot vacuum models, and the iRobot Roomba 675 is arguably the best budget-friendly robot vac around. Let’s see what the Roomba 675 really has to offer.

Suction Power
When shopping for a robot vacuum cleaner, the most important factor to consider is whether the unit sucks. By this, we mean how much suction power it generates for picking up typical floor litter. The Roomba 675 delivers up to 600 Pa of suction power which is not as heavy-duty as some models but still sufficient for lifting dirt from thin rugs or carpets.
Cleaning Modes
The Roomba 675 has two distinct cleaning modes. The first is auto-clean where the robot glides across the floor of your home and picks up whatever messes it finds. The second mode is spot-cleaning where the Roomba will dedicate most of its time in cleaning a particular part of your floors. Granted, these cleaning modes are not unique to iRobot Roombas, but they’re still the handiest cleaning options to have.
Runtime
Another important consideration is the size of the robot’s battery. Larger batteries mean longer runtimes and more cleaning on a single charge. The Roomba 675 comes with a beefy 1,800-mAh Li-Ion battery that provides up to 90 minutes of cleaning before needing to refuel. Within the 90-minute timeframe, this robot vac can clean roughly 1,600 square feet of space.
Dustbin Capacity
The size of the dustbin determines how frequently you’ll need to empty it out. If you live in a pigsty, then the size of the dustbin hardly matters. The Roomba 675 has a 350 mL dustbin which is quite small. In fact, it’s really small compared to other models out there. It’s unfortunate that this Roomba model doesn’t have an auto-emptying feature when the dustbin is filled to the brim, but hey, it’s a budget-friendly model from a name brand, not the Rolls Royce of robot vacs.
Auto-Docking and Resume
The whole point of having a robot doing your dirty work is not having to spend hours looking after it. Of course, first-time buyers will probably follow their Roomba from room to room just for entertainment, but the novelty will soon wear off. When the Roomba 675 detects that it’s running low on juice, it’ll head straight to the charging dock to refuel. After charging for roughly 2 hours, it’ll head on back to where it left off and resume cleaning.
Concentrated Cleaning Feature
One unique feature of the Roomba 675 is its ability to detect where in your home or apartment has the most traffic. It does this by detecting concentrations of dirt and grime and focus more of its attention on those areas.
Compact Size
All robot vacuum cleaners are compact, so they can do spot-cleaning under upholstery and furniture. From the wheels to the top panel, the Roomba 675 measures only a little more than 3-1/2 inches. Compared to other robot vacs, this Roomba isn’t the thinnest, but it’s still compact enough to fit in tight spaces below most of your furniture.
Remote and Voice Control
When away at work or running errands, you can still give commands to the Roomba 675. Not telepathically, but with the downloadable app on your smart device. The app allows you to tell the robot when to begin and stop its cleaning cycle and which mode to activate. When at home, if you’re too lazy to even pick up your Smartphone or tablet, simply yell at Alexa or Google Assistant to command the Roomba 675 to do your bidding.
Verdict
In our opinion, the Roomba 675 offers a ton of value for those of you shopping around for a cheap but effective robot vac. It’s not the most powerful robot vacuum cleaner out there, nor does it have a huge dustbin, but it delivers more than what you could normally expect from a budget robot. The best thing about the iRobot Roomba 675 is its convenience. Essentially, all you need to do is charge the unit up straight from the box, download the app, and let the Roomba work on its own.
