The Eureka Mighty Mite and the Bissell Zing 2156A do not disappoint when it comes to keeping our houses spotless clean. The two canister vacuum cleaners offer high performance, despite being small and lightweight. They also feature unconventionally large hind wheels that allow them to maneuver easily on any type of floor. Their compact designs with a top handle allow for easy handling. As a result, the two are very popular and highly rated. In this article, we look at the differences between the Eureka Mighty Mite and the Bissell Zing 2156A.

Suction

The Zing 2156A utilizes cyclonic technology that involves spinning the air at very high speeds. As a result, the dust particles are scattered in the air and sucked up into the dust canister via centrifugal force.

The cyclonic technology has two major advantages: first, it maintains high suction power throughout the vacuuming, and second, it helps the filter last longer. In addition, the Zing has a manual slider on the vacuum handle that is used to release suction power. This feature is essentially used to vacuum delicate items like lampshades and upholstery. It is also used to release the cleaner head when it gets stuck in a rug.

The Eureka 3670G also offers high suction power thanks to the powerful 12 amps motor that it comes with. The suction can be turned on and off with a nicely placed control on the handle. It is worth noting that this vacuum cleaner can also suck up water, a feature that most vacuum cleaners lack nowadays. In addition, the 3670G can also be converted to a leaf blower by simply attaching the hose to the blower port located at the back. It is a handy device for outdoor cleaning as well.

Filtration

The Zing 2156A has a dual filter system comprising a pre-motor filter and a post-motor filter that work in symphony to keep all the dirt and debris safely contained. The pre-motor filter is housed inside the dust canister and is easily removed by a slight twist of the filter housing. It needs to be rinsed with water to keep it clean and also to work efficiently. The post-motor filter is located at the bottom rear end of the vacuum behind the grill and is also water friendly. Unfortunately, the two filters are not HEPA grade.

Unlike the 2156A, the Mighty Mite does not come with a dust canister. Instead, it comes with a triple filtration bag system that is very effective in collecting particles and preventing them from scattering. The dust bag is located under a latched lid on the front and can be easily slipped out of the canister and disposed of without much hassle. It also has a motor filter to keep the particles from clogging the motor, thereby increasing its lifespan and also ensuring that it works at an optimal level.

The Zing 2156A comes with a 2-liter dust canister, which is of a considerate size. Emptying the canister is simply done by the press of a button, which opens up the base. However, emptying a canister is not as effective as disposing of a dust bag, as it may lead to the release of dust particles in the air.

Cleaning Tools

The Zing comes with various cleaning tools, including a cleaner head that is specially designed for both hard floors and low pile carpets. It does not include a brush roll like most floor heads and is therefore ineffective in medium and large pile carpets. Nicely lodged on top of the cleaner head is a rocker switch that can be adjusted by foot. The switch is used to extend or retract rows of brushes for various cleaning purposes. This vacuum also comes with a crevice tool and a dusting brush that can be attached either to the wand or on the handle.

The Mighty Mite also comes with a carpet/bare nozzle that works on both hard floors and low pile carpets. It has two settings for height adjustment that allows it to switch between bare floors and higher rugs. The height adjustment tool is also conveniently placed on top of the nozzle and can be triggered by foot. It also comes with a dusting brush and a crevice tool. The Mighty Mite is very efficient when it comes to storing cleaning tools. The crevice tools easily lodge inside the handle, while the dusting brush has its port on the top rear end just below the handle. The 2156A has no storage capability, and you will need a safe storage place for the attachments.

Eureka Mighty Mite

Mobility and Other Features

The Zing 2156A is very light at just 10 lbs. with all the attachments and it’s a breeze to both lift and handle it. It has three wheels for better mobility- the front wheel swivels in all directions while the two back wheels can only move front-wise and backward. It does not feature an auto-shutoff function.

It includes an on/off power button. It has a 16-foot power cord and a 5-foot hose. In addition, it also includes an extendable cleaning wand, but its cleaning reach is still quite short compared to other canisters. The power cord has a retractable feature, which is activated by a button.

The Mighty Mite is also lightweight at just 9 pounds with an optional shoulder strap for added convenience. It has a 20-foot power cord and a 7-foot hose with two extension wands for more coverage. It has a longer cleaning reach than the Zing 2156A. This canister vacuum does not feature a retraction function for the power cord. Instead, it has two attachments at the bottom where the cord is tightly wrapped. Furthermore, the Mighty Mite 3670G has three wheels with the front wheel being able to swivel in all directions for easy maneuverability.

Final Words

The two vacuum cleaners work equally well, and it is hard to single out the clear-cut winner. However, the Mighty Mite stands out a bit due to the added cleaning coverage and the fact that it can work both as a vacuum cleaner and a leaf blower. A word of caution; the two units work well in small to medium-sized houses. We do not recommend either unit for large houses.
