In this review, we’re going to be taking a look at the Dolphin Proteus DX3 Robotic Pool Cleaner. If you’re looking for a simple, sleek, and effective robotic pool cleaner, then this may just be the right one for you!

Dolphin Proteus DX3 Robotic Pool Cleaner

What’s really nice about this robotic pool cleaner, is the fact that it completely automates the process of pool cleaning. All you need to do is simply plug this device in, and then allow it to go into your pool, so that it can begin cleaning the floors and walls of your pool.

Instead of relying on a cumbersome suction pump and a variety of hoses, all of the mechanisms that this pool cleaner needs are within the device. This is a big part of what makes it so convenient and useful, because a lot of pool cleaners rely on pumps and hoses for their movement and cleaning.

When you plug this robotic pool cleaner in, and you turn it on, it will go into your pool. First, it will move across the walls of your pool, and then it will move onto the floors. It is unable to clean the waterline of your pool, but it can easily clean the floors and walls.

Movement is quick and speedy. This robotic pool cleaner handles very well, and it’s able to move across your pool at a fairly quick pace. More often than not, your pool will be cleaned up in just two-hours.

Of course, that is dependent on the size of your pool. Every robotic pool cleaner has something known as a “Maximum Area Coverage”, and this robotic pool cleaner can only cover a pool that is, at most, 33 square-feet. So, if you’re pool is larger than that, this robotic pool cleaner won’t be ideal for you.

While the device is moving across the floors and walls of your swimming pool, it relies on three different mechanisms to conduct the cleaning process. The first of these mechanisms – and, arguably, the most important – is that of the brush system. This brush system is used to loosen up the dirt, grime, and gunk that is on the surfaces within your pool.

Once all of that gunk and grime has been loosened up, it needs to go somewhere. Within the pool cleaner, there is a small channel that air flows through. All of this air is used to take the gunk and grime that has been loosened up, and then it throws all of it into a large filter that is held on the back of the robotic pool cleaner.

When the robotic pool cleaner has finished, you can grab the handle that’s right on top of the device. Pulling up this handle will open up the filter, where you can see the dirt and grime that the pool cleaner has removed. Then, you can just take the filter and dump its contents into the trash.

To further automate the pool cleaning process, there is a small device that you have access to. On this device, you can choose to allow the robotic pool cleaner to clean your pool every day, every other day, or every third day. This isn’t a huge feature, but it does make it easier for you to automate when the pool cleaner is on, and when it’s off.

When you look at what this robotic pool cleaner offers, it’s an excellent device that really does offer a lot! But, with that being said, there are two small flaws that it does possess. These flaws may not be that relevant to you, but it’s still worth considering them.

The first of these flaws is the fact that it can only work within pools that are a maximum of 33 square-feet. There are plenty of swimming pools that are much bigger than that, which means this device doesn’t work for a lot of pools.

And, the other flaw is simply the fact that this is a very expensive robotic pool cleaner. You are paying a lot for the convenience and efficiency, which is exceptional, but that may not be worth the price to you.

Conclusion

In the end, the Dolphin Proteus DX3 Robotic Pool Cleaner is a very good robotic pool cleaner that is convenient, efficient, and very easy-to-use. It offers everything you’d expect a good robotic pool cleaner to offer, but it is expensive and designed for smaller pools, so make sure to keep that in mind.
